july was cold and fun
No plylist this month just brat y los redondos
My first monthly playlist! A small capsule of what I've been enjoying this past month. Made a little cover illustration to match my birthday month :)
I know it sounds weird but I have a complicated relationship to music. I really feel my feelings and sometimes I feel like music sways me too much into one direction or the other. I work from home and it's kind of become a joke that I work alone in complete silence. In the past I've tried to reconect with my love for music, but have fallen in traps such as intenselly curating playlists that I never end up listening to. I'm now trying a somewhat more organic approach, well, at least somewhat. I try to dedicate one day a week to discovering new music. I have one playlist where I throw everything "new" that calls my attention, and if I find myself listening to it a lot a throw it on my "main" playlist. My only curation of this playlist is: if I find myself constanstly skipping a song, I remove it. Also, albums! In this age, listening to albums from start to finish is becoming quite rare. I've gotten back to it and I really enjoy it. Expect a list of my favourite ones here in the future.
My main genres are indie rock, trip hop, new wave, shoegaze, dream pop, indie r&b, basically if it's chill and kinda dark I like it. I listen to k-pop (mainly gg) in sprouts, like once a year I'll catch up to new releases and listen to k-pop almost exclusively for a month. I also listen to classic rock, rock nacional and tango.
My absolutely favourite songs, some new stuff I've been digging, some classics and everything in between. Almost 300 tracks, bare in mind this widget can only display up to 100, you'll have to click through to see the full thing.
- Crabhands: game changer for me! This app creates a playlist were it automatically adds every new release from artists you follow on Spotify. I will usually go through it every monday, remove evertything that's a remix/live version/etc and play.
- Fantano's weekly track roundup: weird fanbase aside, I find this is a good way to discover new artists and get out of my spotify's algorithm echo chamber
- Spotify's weekly discovery playlist: Last and certainly least! Very hit of miss for me at least
